We had a chat with Sharon from Le belle Maison in Victoria.

Name of your business?
Le Belle Maison
How long have been painting furniture?
I have been painting for more than 15 years
What inspired you to paint and relove furniture?
I have always had a passion for woodwork and painting. When I was full time at home looking after my youngest son who went through 10 years of ill health, requiring my care day and night, I found making furniture and painting was great therapy and time out. It became my therapy and to this day I still love doing it. I have a garage & 2 shipping containers full of old furniture, that needs to be refurbished and reloved.
Do you have a particular style you paint in?
I love simple & elegant. I love painting white, soft neutral colours & black. I stretch my own comfort zone by using colour so I can help customers/clients think outside the box. French style furniture is my absolute favourite.
What has been your biggest painting disaster to date?
I actually can’t think of one off the top of my head. However, if I have painted something and I’m not feeling it, I simply repaint it. Furniture has to have a good feeling about it when it’s repainted. It has to have its own identity and style when completed.
Why did you decide to stock L'essentiel?
I purchased Liquid Carbon from a retailer, and totally fell in love.
I did some homework on L’essentiel and found that it was 100% Australian made & Owned, Eco friendly, No nasty chemicals or smells.
In 2014 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I decided if I wanted to pursue my passion for painting, I needed to find a product I felt confident using.
I love selling and promoting this brand from Paintright Berwick.
What is your biggest paint tip you are willing to share with our readers?
As a retailer who works in a paint shop. I can’t emphasis enough, PREP,PREP,PREP! I always undercoat all my projects. Your finish is only as good as your prep, so invest your time at the start of your project.
